This wine tasting is untutored and informal allowing you to taste at your leisure. Full tasting notes on your table will give you background information and space to note any of your own observations. We will be milling around and on hand to chat or answer any questions.

When looking back at our tasting flights from the past few years we realised we have done the Rhône wine region a disservice! Trying to cram all that is wonderful into one flight doesn’t do this amazing wine region justice and only scratches the surface of what it has to offer. So welcome The Mighty Rhône! Parts One and Part Two, with the obvious split into Southern Rhone and Northern Rhone appellations

We kick off this two part series with the diverse styles and rich terroirs of Southern Rhône, one of France’s most celebrated wine regions, known for its diverse range of rich, flavourful wines. Spanning from Montélimar in the north to Avignon in the south, the region benefits from a Mediterranean climate characterized by hot, dry summers and mild winters, with the cooling Mistral winds playing a key role in shaping the vineyards' microclimates.

Red wines from the region are characteristically rich and complex with deep fruit flavours, spice, herbs, and have the capacity to age for decades. The region also produces robust, dry rosés, particularly from Tavel. Whites are not as well known but equally impressive, offering richness and aromatic intensity.  We will explore the famed appellations of Chateauneuf-du-Pap, Gigondas  Rasteau, Vacqueryas, Cairanne, Lirac and Tavel. Regions which together define the Southern Rhône as a dynamic and diverse wine-producing area, with a strong focus on blending varieties to create wines of great depth, character, and aging potential. We will also open a magnum of 2007 vintage of Beaucastel’s Chateauneuf-du-Pap which should be showing all the developed qualities of an aged wine.

You'll enjoy an aperitif on arrival, followed by a tasting flight of 7 wines, full tasting notes and an artisanal cheese and charcuterie sharing board.
