The Antón family of Bodegas Izadi purchased 20 hectares of Tinta de Toro vines for their Vetus project. These vines, ranging from 25 to 60 years old, are situated on south-facing sandy and clay soils in Villabuena del Puente in Castilla y Leon. Despite extreme growing conditions such as cold winters, frost, strong winds, and hot summers, the vineyards produce low yields that result in richly flavoured and intensely coloured wines due to the poor soil quality.
Vetus Toro Tempranillo boasts a firm structure, featuring characteristic Toro DO tannins and vibrant scents of red berries, smoke, toast, and oak. These elements combine to create a perfectly balanced wine with a robust, lengthy finish. Its depth and intricacy can be attributed to its maturation process in new, French oak barrels.
