2017 Domaine Chevallier Bernard Jongieux Fut de Chene Mondeuse

Located in the foothills of the Alps, the Savoie represents one of the last, great undiscovered wine regions of France. The vineyards are amongst widely dispersed, small communities, clustered together in the narrow alpine valleys, each seemingly with its own specialities in terms of grape varieties it elects (or is allowed) to grow.

Mondeuse is a typical Savoyard grape (it is one of the grandparents of Syrah). For this wine only the best plots are used. It is aged in older oak barrels for 10-12 months then an additional 9-12 months in vats. This gives a  fruity, spicy, lightly roasted wine with elegant tannins.
