2017 Domaine Berthaut Gerbet Gevrey Chambertin

Amélie Berthaut's emergence as one of Burgundy's rising stars by now needs no reiteration, but the quality of her 2017 portfolio demonstrates that the plaudits she has received are amply justified.  The wine leads with notes of red and black fruit, spice, burning embers and a framing of new oak. Powerful on the palate with amazing purity of fruit. The wine is supple, fine-grained and elegantly tense, with good concentration and depth.
