Wilson Foreigner is a collaboration between two husband and wife teams: David and Christine Wilson in the Napa Valley and Chris and Suzaan Alheit from South Africa. The couples became friends after they worked a harvest together in 2005 and 10 years later formed Wilson Foreigner Their goal is to create unique wines with minimal intervention that truly represent the individual vineyards from which they are sourced. The ten acre block used for this wine was planted way back in 1972 at Rancho Chimiles in the south-eastern hills of Napa County
Valdiguie grapes used to be known as Napa Gamay and it certainly shares some characteristics with it's namesake. Beautiful floral and red fruit aromatics tie in to the palate of cherry, plum, and warm spice, with a soft texture on finish. Think Cru Beaujolais!
