The vineyards of Banyuls were historically planted by the Phoenicians  and are the last vineyard before the Spanish border. Banyuls was one of the first regions to receive appellation status in 1936  and covers 882 hectares, incorporating the four fishing port villages of Banyuls-sur-Mer, Collioure, Port-Vendres and Cerbère.

'Christian Reynal' is 100% Grenache Noir, selected from the oldest parcels with some of the lowest yields and most concentrated grapes. They are harvested late, de-stemmed and immediately fortified and left to macerate for 20 days. Aged for eight years in demi-muid and small foudre, this 2002 vintage was bottled in June 2011 then aged for a further 10 years in the cellar before release.
