Shafer Vineyard, Napa. As iconic vineyards in Napa go they don’t get much bigger than Shafer! Robert Parker described it as ‘One of the world’s greatest wineries’. Founded in 1978, Shafer Vineyards is situated in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, just off of the Silverado Trail.
Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay is from a vineyard on the Napa edge of Carneros, it is barrel fermented in 75% new French oak, the rest in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation is prevented but it still has richness and great intensity with a core of nice acidity.
