Proprietor Stéphane Magnien entered into the family business in 2002 after inheriting a winemaking legacy going back four generations to his ancestor, Victor Magnien, in the early 20th Century. The domaine is a mere 4.5 hectares planted mostly with the old 'Pinot tordu' - twisted Pinot with gnarly stems which are less vigorous than the modern clones and said by many to make wines with more finesse. This wine is utterly seductive on the nose with a delicate scent of sweet red fruit and fine minerality. The mid-palate has lovely soft appeal and the essence of the old vines really comes through and gives a silky plushness to the palate with a touch of graphite on the finish. This is very good for village level.
