2011 Contino Gran Reserva magnum with wooden box
50 years ago Vinedos del Contino was established on the bank of the Ebro and became the first single estate winery in Rioja. Today it has 62 ha of vineyards and prides itself on combining tradition with innovation with a modern state of the art winery and ancient 16th century cave cellars.
A Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano blend produced only in the very best vintages and aged for 5 years. The wine spends 2 years in French and American oak barrels and then bottled aged solely in magnums for a further 2 years..
Highly aromatic on the nose with hints of red and black autumn fruits along with some toasted and spicy notes. Full and meaty on the palate with great depth and a fine, long, velvety and complex finish.
Pair with grilled and roasted red meats, hearty casseroles and stews or mature strong cheeses.
