The Loire is such a popular wine region for us we really wanted to put together a box that showcased some of the less well explored corners of the region as well as the more well known.

2018 Fournier Longchamps Savennieres La Croix Picot

A small appellation south west of Angers on the North bank of the Loire  it is renowned for making some of the finest dry Chenin Blanc with incredible nerve and energy. Wonderful ripe fruit flavours, a steely minerality at its core and a racy acidity to balance the fruit.

2019 Phillippe Guerin Vielles Vignes Fut de Chene Muscadet Sevre et Maine

A Muscadet aged in oak? Phillipe Guerin makes his Muscadets witha razor like precision and is part of the new wave of producers elevating the humble Melon de Bourgogne grape., All the zesty fruity pithy grapefruit flavours and high acidity as you expect but with a richness and fullness  from oak ageing. A must try!

2020 Paul Prieur Sancerre Mont Damnes

From the legendary Mont Damnes terroir- the first hill in Sancerre to be planted with vines. This really is Sancerre at its very best - crisp, elegant and fruity with mineral notes of flint and chalk. Full of depth and richness with good potential for  ageing.

2019 J.P Balland Sancerre Rouge

Sancerre Pinot Noir might not be the first thing that springs to mind when thinking of Sancerre but it can make very appealing Pinot Noir. Very accessible with juicy fresh berries and a touch of spice and vanilla hint. Nicely balanced with fine integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity.

2019 Le Rocher des Violettes Cot (Malbec) Viellles Vignes

We are big fans of Le Rocher des Violettes and love their beautifully textured individual wines. The Loire isn't the first place that springs to mind when you think of Malbec but this is a nicely restrained wine but with fine tannins and  big berry flavours that come from 80 year old vines in Mont-Louis AOC

2009 Domaine Bruno Sourdais Chinon 'Les Cornuelles' Vieilles Vignes

6th generation domaine owner Bruno Sordais uses grapes from Cabernet Franc vines that are 80 - 100 years old and have very low yields, Elegant and generous on the palate with soft rounded tannins and a well-balanced finish. There is a distinctive herbaceous and crushed red fruit character with notes of dried herb and minerality.
