Cava is having something of a renaissance or perhaps better to say the light is now shinning on the better quality that’s has always been in the region.
Roger Goulart can trace its history back to 1882 when it was set up by the Canel Family. It was one of the first wineries in Penedès to produce Cava in the traditional double fermentation method. Located in Sant Esteve Sesrovires and they have 20 hectares of vines consisting of primarily Xarel.lo vines. Their Gran Reserva is a blend of classic Cava varieties Xarl-lo, Macabeo and Parellada but with the addition of 25% Chardonnay which gives wonderful depth and acidity. It is bottle aged for a minimum of 48 months.
Intense aroma of ripe white fruit such as apple and peach with aniseed notes & fennel. Long ageing on its lees gives notes of patisserie, yeast and toasty nuts. It is full and creamy on the palate. The dry white flowers and fruit aromas come back on the palate with good acidity providing a refreshing and lasting finish.
