Nestled high in the Banghoek Valley with a stunning view of the 'Rondekop' hill, Oldenburg Vineyards stands as one of South Africa's most picturesque farms, crafting beautifully elegant wines that capture the essence of their terroir. The valley, situated in Stellenbosch, benefits from a unique microclimate characterized by cool temperatures, thanks to its elevation, ocean breezes, and encircling mountains.
Oldenburg Vineyards offers three distinct ranges: the prestigious Rondekop line, epitomizing the property's terroir; the Oldenburg Vineyards series, showcasing exceptional single varietals; and the CL range, named for its cooler microclimate compared to that of Stellenbosch.
Harvested from cooler climate vineyards with 40-year-old vines, the Chenin grapes were hand-sorted and pressed using a gentle Champagne cycle. After settling overnight, the juice underwent spontaneous fermentation in Austrian oak Foudre and older fill 300L French oak barrels, lasting 10 months. Some batches also underwent partial malolactic conversion, with a final maturation period of 10 months before gentle fining and filtering prior to bottling.
