Albertus Viljoen van der Merwe – “Alvi” to his friends was the first South African to score a try against the all blacks on African soil, he also bought land in the Breede River Valley back in the 1920’s/1930’s which is still farmed for fruit and rearing cattle.
Alvi van der Merwe (Albertus’s grandson) is the man behind these wines and 20 years on is still making a fantastic range and is committed to environmental conservation and sustainability.
Their Viognier has Intense apricot aromas with rose petal hints. On the palate there are flavours of apricot, peach, and tangerine. Crisp acidity and an elegant mouthfeel create a lingering finish.
