Steeped in history and on the banks of the Breede river you will find Alvi’s Drift. Albertus Viljoen van der Merwe – “Alvi” to his friends was the first South African to score a try against the all blacks on African soil, he also bought land in the Breede River Valley back in the 1920’s/1930’s which is still farmed for fruit and rearing cattle.
Alvi van der Merwe (Albertus’s grandson) is the man behind these wines and 20 years on is still making a fantastic range and is committed to environmental conservation and sustainability.
Named after Alvi, the 221st Springbok, this Chenin Blanc is made with free run juice, wild yeasts, and aged in both French oak and acacia barrels for complexity. Aromas of tropical fruit and nectarine with hints of vanilla lead to a creamy palate of luscious fruit and ripe lemon, balanced by refreshing acidity.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians
