Wade Metzer's winemaking philosophy centres on his unwavering respect for the fruit. He adheres to non-interventionist principles, employing no mechanical interventions, utilizing indigenous yeasts, and avoiding fining or filtration. Sourcing grapes from various Old Vine Certified blocks in Stellenbosch, Wade has earned a reputation for crafting some of South Africa's finest wines.
His Maritime Chenin is one of Wade Metzer’s two single-site Old Vine Chenin Blancs and was planted in 1980 near False Bay. It highlights the unique Maritime terroir through distinct stylistic differences despite the same winemaking processes as his Montane Chenin. Radiating with notes of pear, white peach, and lemon, the wine offers a palate of bright stone fruit complemented by a rich texture and lively acidity. Its persistent finish reveals subtle hints of white spice and orange blossom.
