VV47 is sourced from the estate's oldest vineyard, planted in 1947 at altitudes between 262 - 292m, with a south-east orientation. The vineyard's schist soil and elevation allow for an elegant, balanced, and complex expression of the terroir.
The grapes are hand-picked, de-stemmed, crushed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts in granite 'lagares'. Foot treading and pressing in an old-style vertical press are used, followed by aging in used French oak casks for 12 months.
The wine has a rich and lively aroma, with mature red fruit and balsamic notes from old vines. On the palate, it is well-balanced and elegant, with mature tannins and a harmonious acidity. The finish is long and persistent, suggesting that the wine has great potential for ageing in the bottle.
