Meroi is a family-operated winery based in Buttrio, situated in the Friuli Colli Orientali region of Italy. Founded in 1920 by Domenico Meroi, the estate covers 19 hectares and produces around 35,000 bottles per year.
Renowned for their elegance and richness, Meroi wines are often characterized as being both rich and well-structured, with a vibrant acidity that enhances their full-bodied texture.
Grapes for this wine are sourced from the Vigna Dominin vineyards, known for the exceptional terroir of 'ponca' soil (a combination of marl and sandstone) It is fermented and aged in new and used French oak barrels for approximately 8 months, which contribute to its complexity and depth.
The resulting wine is intense and complex, featuring layers of ripe citrus, tropical fruits, hints of vanilla, and delicate toasted notes from oak aging. Rich and full-bodied with a creamy texture. Vibrant acidity balances flavours of ripe pear, apple, and lemon zest, accented by a touch of hazelnut and minerality. The finish is long and precise with a lingering hint of oak and citrus.
Pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted white meats, creamy seafood dishes, risottos, aged cheeses, and vegetable-based meals.
