The Susumaniello grape, an ancient and uncommon red variety from Puglia, was traditionally used as a blending component, but in recent years has gained popularity on its own. It derives its name from the local dialect, either from the heavy load the vines bear when young or its reputation for being stubborn and challenging to cultivate. These grapes thrive in sandy vineyards that are over 30 years old, located in Puglia's Salento peninsula.
This full-bodied wine has a deep, inky purple-black colour and is characterized by intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and chocolate. Notes of violets, blossom, and Mediterranean herbs add complexity and depth, while powerful yet fine tannins provide structure. The wine boasts a persistent finish and a fantastic freshness, making it a true standout.
