Situated 30 kilometers west of the town of Cahors, the historic birthplace of Malbec, Château de Chambert has been owned and managed since 2007 by Philippe Lejeune and his wife, Master of Wine Lin Liu. Together with consultant winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt, they obtained organic certification in 2012 and biodynamic certification in 2015, making it the largest organic and biodynamic estate in Cahors. The couple also raises highland cattle in a nearby field, utilizing their grazing to control weeds and naturally aerate the soil with their hooves during the winter months.

The use of oak has been reduced by Philippe and Lin in recent years, opting instead for large 30-hectolitre oak foudres to preserve the delicate balance between the fragrant fruit and subtle limestone minerality in their Malbecs. The wine is then aged for about a year in oak, resulting in a rich and velvety black fruit profile with silky smooth tannins.

The 2016 Chateau de Chambert Cahors Malbec boasts a deep, rich colour and a bold, fruity profile. Hints of blueberry and violet can be found in the refined aromas, while the palate offers a vibrant acidity and smooth tannins, with a touch of spice from French oak.
