Fast becoming South Africa’s flagship garagiste wine, the exceptional Porseleinberg is a pure Syrah from 100% whole-bunch fermentation under the artisanal care of Callie Louw. Boekenhoutskloof bought the farm back in 2009 and have spared just a tiny quantity of the optimum fruit to produce this no-expense-spared example of South African brilliance.
Totally opaque core with a deep red tinged hue. Black cherry and liquorice aromas are overlaid by a mix of black pepper, dried meats, earthy clove notes, black olive and hints of leather. Rich black cherry and liquorice fruits, smoked meats, black olive and herbs on the palate lead to a long, savoury finish. Robust tannins lend a rustic feel to the aftertaste and impart some grip.
