Märzen has its origins in Bavaria and could not be brewed between 29 September (St. Michael's Day or Michaelmas) and 23 April (St. George's Day or Georgi). Traditionally Märzen was brewed in March, with more hops, malt and increased alcohol content so the beer would last until the end of September.
So this is a little bit fuller in body and more malt.
