A very special release and what a wine!
It is only recenetly that the Champagne house of Henri Giraud have released their wines under their own name (previously they sold the grapes) but they are one of the oldest growers in AY. We have loved there wines for sometime now and they have quickly built up a strong following with our customers.
So what is PR90-19? They set up a solera (perpectual reserve) back in 1990 and use this to enrich their wines. This is a special (and second release) where the addition from the 1990 solera is much much higher.
Like all of Henri Girauds wines this has a lovely vinous character, layers and layers of soft fruits like peach and apricot. It has a really long and an almost creamy finish. Drinking well now but would be really interesting to see how it develops.
