Generations of the Cattin family have been working the estate since the middle of the 18th century. Today, the estate is run by Jacques senior and Jacques junior and at 50 hectares is one of the largest family-owned estates in Alsace. The Cattin family farm using organic principles.
Fully ripe grapes are hand-harvested in September and undergo whole bunch maceration for 48 hours to impart more flavour and texture. Fermentation takes place in old oak casks with a further aging on fine lees.
This Gewurztraminer is complex and rich and a great example of an orange wine. The nose is intense giving off scents of spices, cloves and cardamom accompanied by aromas of passion fruit. The palate is structured with flavours of spice and rich stone fruit.
Would be wonderful with cheese!
