Poggio Scalette is situated on the hill of Ruffoli, widely considered to be one of the best areas for grape cultivation in the Chianti Classico denomination. The estate was rescued in 1991 by Poggio Scalette after many years of neglect and abandonment. Since then it has become one of the most respected wineries in Tuscany, producing outstanding wines from an ancient clone of Sangiovese called Lamole.
The wine is an intense ruby colour with dominant aromas of cherry, blackberry, and pomegranate. Fresh and fruity on the palate complemented by soft tannins and a velvety texture. Persistent long finish.
