Casa D'Ambra was founded over 130 years ago on the beautiful island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples. They are committed to bringing old varietals back to life and in 1995 established an experimental vineyard to recover and preserve disappearing varieties.
Forastera is one such grape variety and is grown on volcanic soils rich in potassium and phosphorous on vineyards overlooking the glittering Meditteranean sea. The grapes are all picked by hand and then vinified and fermented in stainless steel. The wine is bright, fresh and very elegant with a particularly attractive nose. of apricot and peach with a hint of herbal scrub. On the palate almonds come to the fore accompanied by delicate stone fruits and a gentle acidity.
