Weingut Stefan Meyer is one of 13 producers in Rhodt, a small village 40 kilometers north of the French border. Stefan's family has roots in Hessen, and he has been making wine at the family cellar since 2009. The cellar, established in 1954, underwent a transition from aromatic to 'Pinot' varieties initiated by Stefan's father.

Stefan, with 17 hectares under organic cultivation since 2021, is expanding to an additional 13 hectares from 2023, it is Stefan’s objective to convert some of this land to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, whilst retaining parcels of older vine Riesling.

This delightful Pinot Noir shows the structure, strength, and distinctive character of Rhodt's vineyard sites. The grapes are sourced from the Rosengarten, Schlossberg, and Klosterpfad sites, the vines thrive in clay, limestone, and loess-clay soil. They are handpicked and subject to spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels.

The aging process involves spontaneous fermentation on the skins with partially whole grapes, a maceration period lasting 14-18 days, and 12-14 months of maturation in small oak barrels.

The resulting wine features refreshing raspberry and cassis fruit notes, seamlessly integrated acidity, and concludes with a dense and complex finish.
