Ceritas, Healdsburg
The West Sonoma Coast is a rugged wild landscape where rocky cliff faces intermingle with hillside vineyards overlooking the shimmering aquamarine Pacific Ocean. A true maritime climate, cooling sea breezes and morning fogs all help add that crispness to the wine it produces.
Ceritas don’t own any vineyards and source their fruit along the Sonoma Coast and westernmost Russian River Valley and are carefully chosen for their winegrowing merits and also for their singularity. They use bio-dynamically farmed grapes where ever possible.
The Carex vineyard is planted with Chardonnay Old Wente clone, which produces tiny clusters of grapes. It is also planted closely, so the grapes do not see much direct sunlight due to shading from the surrounding vines. This helps the grapes to keep great acidity and backbone ensuring precision as well as age ability.
As is the way with a lot of Californian wines these are normally only available through Ceritas’ mailing list so we are very lucky to have them on our shelves.
