Domaine la Soumade was set up back in 1979 by André Roméro, his son and nephew have since joined. There are now a leading winery in Rasteau indeed maybe the whole of the Southern Rhone.
Cuvée Fleur de Confiance is their flagship wine extremly low yealds of 15 to 20 hectolitres per hectare and is made from 90% Grenache noir, 10% Syrah, but this can change depending on the vintage. It is made very very old vines between 50 and 100 years old. The wine shows extraordinary power and concentration, plenty of spice, some darker fruits. A wine like this will power on for 20 years no worries. Decant for a couple of hours if drinking in its youth.
Rasteau food pairing - this is a special wine so expect to serve it with your finest red cuts, rib of beef, côte de boeuf, veal and game.
