2017 Domaine Bernard Moreau 'Vergers' 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachet

Alex and Benoit, who now run this winery, belong to the new generation of talented wine makers in the Cote d’Or, who went through formal studies and have experienced working in other wine regions around the world. There is natural approach to managing the vineyards which means no herbicides or pesticides, only organic fertilizers are being used. Pruning is the main method used to keep the yields low and under control. Harvest is done solely by hand and fermentation is naturally originated by the natural grapes’ yeasts. This wine has a very bright aroma with plenty of apple and zingy lemon. Round and rich on the palate with lots of mineral character and stoniness coming through. Texturally very precise, complex and nuanced. Would benefit from laying down for a few years.
